The AGP
The Association of Gaming Professionals (AGP) is the first ever international players association in professional gaming and in Quake Live. Following in the footsteps of other professional sports, the AGP has been set up to unite all of the players and allow them to grow and sustain the sport themselves through player legislation, tournament sanctioning, international and regional rankings, and player/tournament sponsoring.
Members
As a member, you are automatically put into the official AGP Rankings system and be able to gain Ranking points in all competitions sanctioned by the AGP. See the Competitions page for details on AGP Santioned competitions. These competitions are approved by the players association and are following the most recent guidelines voted by you, the players, including maps and seeding. Competitions sanctioned by the AGP will be free to all to participate, but only AGP members will get the benefits of being properly seeded and earning AGP Ranking points for their international rank. Just look for the Official AGP Sanctioned emblem on participating tournaments and ladders as well as on our Competitions page. By being a member of the AGP, you are helping the sport you love grow and prosper as the first international players association in professional E-Sports and FPS gaming.
Quake Live
The AGP is starting with Quake Live, ID Software’s new and free online first person action game based off of their acclaimed Quake 3. Professional gaming tournaments and leagues supporting ID’s first person shooter games have been around for over 15 years and Quake Live will continue this.
Game Modes
The AGP sanctions the Duel, CTF, CA, and TDM game modes of Quake Live. Each game mode will be launched as a branch of the AGP as competitions are available.
The AGP Rankings
The AGP Rankings are an international ranking point system. Every tournament that is sanctioned by the AGP will include this point system and be included in the rankings. What this will do is present a united system for players to always have accurate seedings for tournaments around the world. The system is adaptable for any amount of competitions and tournaments. International LAN tournaments will award the most ranking points based on prize payouts, followed by regional LANS, with online tournaments coming in next and then ladders. What the AGP Rankings also creates is the ability to separate tournaments based on rank. For example: a pro tournament might be top 32, an intermediate tournament might be 33-125, and an amateur tournament might be everyone ranked 126 and above. What this will accomplish is creating an organized structure for players to play around their skill levels while still being able to win tournaments and prizes and increase their ranking on their advance to becoming a professional.
Player Legislation
The AGP provides legislation for the players through voting and electing. This pertains to player representatives as well as all rules and laws regionally and internationally. For more information, go to the Legislation page.
Membership
Join the AGP for free and spread the word. We offer a general AGP membership for free and an annual Pro Membership for $29.95.
Pro memberships, are for the more serious player as each gets the ability to be a regional representative, becoming a member of the AGP Council, and can propose to the AGP as well.
